Inlet cam distributor and IDF's (Fiat twin cam)

Post by Testament »

I know all the factory TC's equiped with IDF carburettors utilised exhaust cam dirven distributors. As these are hard to come by now (in New Zealand at least) I am wondering if an inlet cam distributor (top drive not end drive) will clear 40IDF's on a factory 'waffle' manifold? I see on page 236 of your book it does clear DNCF's on a monte carlo engine but I am guessing that manifold gives more clearance keeping the carbs vertical with the tilted tranverse layout engine.

Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks
Tom

Sorry Tom,

I just 'mocked up' that setup for you and it fouls totally, even with the distributor removed.

Thanks Guy, I had a feeling that would be the case. I will have to keep searching for an exhaust driven one.
