2 Liter 8v Fiat TC valve clearances

Post by mack124 »

Hello Guy,
I've just about completed the head rebuild on my 2.0ltr 124 CC. The Cams are std Fiat 132 and the valves and seats have all been cut according to your specs. Now I'm unsure what to set the valves clearances to.

The Haynes 131 specifies In 0.45mm and Ex 0.6mm for a 2.0ltr TC. For a Regata it says In 0.45mm and Ex 0.5mm for a 1.6ltr TC, The original Fiat 124 cc spec says 0.017" (0.43) and 0.019" (.48mm) respectively for a 1756.

I was going to set them at 0.45 and 0.60 but balked when I read that you can get excessive cam wear due to not having an on ramp.

So what do you suggest?

Go with 0.45 in 0.5 ex +/- 0.05mm and you won't have any problems.
