Hi Guy,
You advised me sometime ago for some base settings for the DCNFs on my Lancia Montecarlo. I finally got round to having it set up on the rolling road today as I'm off on the Classic Le Mans next month and it was spot on with no jet swapping required! So, a big thankyou!
Here's the car spec-
84.6mm pistons
STD Monte cams
9.3:1 CR
DIY ported 'volumex' head with 43.5mm inlets
42 DCNFs, 36mm chokes on Alquati manifold
Ansa 4-2-1 manifold with straight through silencer
Electronic ignition in STD distributor
Monte g'box casing with Volumex internals
Delta HF Turbo clutch
Base settings from you-
Mains - 140
Airs - 180
Em - F22
Idles - 55
Pump - 50
Chokes - 36 (you actually said 34 but I'd already had them machined)
On the first run the car made 150.4bhp @ 6040rpm and 142ft/lb @ 4600rpm (corrected flywheel figures), which I was well impressed with. Looks like I must have done a half decent job of porting the head. The operator ended up advancing the timing in stages by 8deg, so we ended up with 15 at idle and 32 total. This actually lost us 3bhp (147.1bhp) at the top but gained us 6-8ft/lb of torque from the bottom right up to the same 142ft/lb peak a tad lower at 4500rpm. It's got over 135ft/lb from 3100rpm up to 5700rpm. The car feels nice and perky now but it has got me thinking what power / torque it'd make with some of your nice cams in there?
Thanks again for the advice,
Nick
