Throttle body and butterfly shaft modifications .

Post by DamirGTI »

Hello Guy !

Can you please tell me is this good , is there any use/gain from doing this job ..
Do you practice this kind of job (standard throttle body modifications for better air flow..) ?

I've grind out the lip which was inside the throttle body (i've tapered the lip into the throttle bore on the entry and exit side) , and i tinned the throttle shaft middle section as you can see from the pictures :

Thanks !

This is OE standard Peugeot 205 GTi throttle body (with removed butterfly and shaft) note the sharp lip inside , and this is on the entry side .

Now you can see on the right side is my modified (tinned middle section) shaft , and on the left side is standard OE shaft .

Hey Damir!!! I'm not Guy-croft, but I have some experience with butterfly works (on carburators and in my civic D16Z6 engine). Y used to change the shape (but no the round size and wear) of the buterfly, I used to make it like a wing.

I'm sorry, I have to use the "paint brush" don't pay attention on the size of that, but do it on the shape!!!

The fluid may have less restriction by using less energy (not turbulent).

Bad for me, I have not so much vocabulary to explain fluid dynamics in English.

In my experience, it works... Don't expect a big change, this is not a turbocharger and neither a big increase of CFM, but in a race, in the straight acceleration part it could be a good thing.

The gain in actual airflow may be measureable, however the effect on cylinder filling and power depends how well the the standard item throttle flows already.

FWIW in my exp most single throttle bodies have plenty in reserve without resorting to such difficult and time-consuming mods.

Damir, please delete some of those photos, we don't need anything like as many to make the point.

Hi !

Ok. i delete some of those pics ..
Well time is not the problem , i was bored anyway and it took me something around 30min. to do that job !

Anyhow i can feel a tiny bit sharper throttle response now after this modification ..

Thanks Guy , and Ivan (I understand your problems with English language expression , really was having the same problems myself before !)

Regards
Damir
