Fiat 131 2ltr bore

Post by Andrew Cobb »

Hello GC

This week I've had a fuel leak from my carbs so i removed them complete
with the manifold to repair and clean them up,also there's a slight oil leak
from one of the cam boxes so i decided to remove the head to give it
a clean up and just have a look inside and in the main its pretty good,
however number four bore had these marks and was wondering if this
is somthing to be concernd about in the near future.
regards Andrew

That's corrosion from coolant from a blown head gasket and the unit left standing wet for ages. The head gasket was eventually fixed and the engine restarted as-is in the corroded condition - so expect maybe some piston scuffing and ring/bore wear if you strip it, but if it runs OK leave it alone.
