Piston to valve clearances see att (also published in the GC Virtual Workshop on this site). Print off and read in its entirely please!

Piston crown and dome to head allow 1mm.

The other thing you refer to, please publish an annotated photo as I am not sure what you are referring to.

Easy to do really. Lay your acrylic sheet over the CC and mark valve location. Then using a burr in your Dremmel or whatever you have, create the cresent shaped notch to clear intake valve protrusion in the clear acrylic sheet. Test fit and retune notch so the valve doesn't hold the sheet off the head deck. You should be good to go.
