Hi Guy!
I am currently building a 1976 Fiat 128 1290cc SOHC engine for racing for a friend of mine.
We plan to redline the engine at approx 8000.
Will the standard ignition components cope with this or will upgraded items be needed?
Best regards

Re: Race 128 Ignition
From direct exp of that engine I can tell you the standard CB (contact breaker) system will easily cope with that, how much better breakerless (eg: Lumention) would be - I honestly don't know.
I have never exp a problem with 'points bounce' on a 4cyl unit under 8500rpm.

I have electronic ignition on mine .. the main advantage being that you can get a rev limiting module to plug straight into it
