Can anyone confirm that the oil from the pump enters the filter through the outer holes and feeds to the engine from the large central hole ?
Also now the engine is in the car with a bone dry oil pump that I forgot to fill with oil when it was easy to get to, what't the easiest way to prime the oil pump once you've put the oil filter mounting block in place ?
Many thanks,
Stuart

The flow direction you described is correct, into the filter thru the array of outer holes and out into the main oil gallery via the centre threaded hole.
You should not attempt turning the engine at all unless the pump itself is primed ie: thoroughly wetted with oil, otherwise it may not prime at all. Take the oil filter housing off again and squirt plenty of oil into the right hand vertical gallery that is connected with the pump 'out' feed.
Fill the oil filter and any accessories (oil cooler etc).
That done - it is safe to crank the engine on the starter with the plugs out on wide open throttle.
