Can anyone please tell me if it is possible to remove the gearbox from the Volumex car without taking the engine out as well?

I haven't done it but can't see any reason why not as I don't think it is any different in principle to other Betas. I need to read this up but I think Lancia produced a special tool basically a cradle for the gearbox specifically to aid this process (but any transmission lift would probably suffice). Splitting a complete engine / box on the floor can actually be awkward due to difficulty in accessing some of the metal plates that Lancia fitted.
