That is a real beaut of a 131 (and the garage ain't half bad either). I can't even fit a car in my garage :(

as the car lives in Spain (no road salt and little rain) the body work is as good today as it was 7 years ago.

Great car there and literally GREAT garage! The dream garage of any enthusiast out there!

You mentioned that this wonder lives is Spain...
I noticed in the background a Ford (Escort?) and a BMW Z3.
Why do I have the feeling that the scene is familiar to me? Fiat, Ford and BMW... Reminds me of an old friend's garage. Gaby Autosport?
Or maybe it's just a coincidence of facts :-)

I'm slightly concerned that there is no oil on the garage floor though, at least if it's leaking there is 'some in there'..

Thats no garage, its a playpen and a very nice one.
Was looking to do similar with the floor in mine but theres that much junk in it I cannot say Ive actually seen the floor......

Car looks stunning in that orange, its so nice to see that shape standing out amongst all the modern boring lookalikes, very well done job and a credit to you.

They used to make 'em like that over in GB, but I would have thought that after all those Fiats you'd be sort of cured of leaky engines by now. ;-)

I was wondering if you have had any bother putting it back together ? I would have braced the feck out of them door appetures before chopping out all that metal.

yup, but I cannot claim credt really, it's something I 'coined' (lifted) from the Time-Life book series on the Vietnam war. A carrier-based pilot, on his walkaround the plane before climbing in made that remark about the hydraulics, ''leaking - just like a jet fighter should, but at least if it's leaking ..." etc!

Funny thing is it's true. When it stops is the time to worry. But yes I do try to make 'em leak-free.

Back to the engine: It is running, have been through the preliminary stages of running in, as soon as i get back home (currently away at work) ill have the car out and on the road for some under load running in.
I was contemplating fitting a crank scrapper, would have done had it arrived in time, may drop the sump and retro fit the scrapper if and when i get it.

Oh and that floor in my garage, its spotless because i keep it that way, what you dont see in the photos are the lengths of cardboard i push under the cars when not taking photos! (unless you look closely at the Z3!)

Great work! I notice the Fiat is right-hand drive.

The 2-litre Fiat twin-cam in my Morris Minor has been surprisingly good for lack of oil leaks and usage.

I have had an engine that Guy built in my Montecarlo since 2007 and it has never leaked a drop of oil from anywhere, way to go Guy.
