Minimum clearance using standard cams??

Hi!

I am currently building a 130 tc engine using only std Fiat parts.
I am considering to narrow down running clearances on the cams, to gain some lift and duration.

How close may I go without sacrificing reliability?
What factors determines this`?
What are the potential drawbacks on having the valve slightly open during the slow opening/closing phase? (for 124 cam - see PDF)

For interest I am submitting a comparison graph for 130TC cams (high milage) and 1800 sport (low wear).
As You can see the opening (ramp) is very different between the two.

BTW - how do I submit the graph into the post - not as an attachment?

Best regards

Hi Remi,
you can simply open the pdf file, then use the Print/Stamp key ( or Alt + Print keys) on your keyboard to copy the entire desktop ( or only the selected window) as an image; then open for example Microsoft Paint ( or another graphic tool ) and paste the image !
Save and upload !

like this !
(I hope this is what you need.)

Bye

Giulio

I use 16 thou" inlet and 18 thou" ex (+/- 2thou") as a rule on all the TC 8V cams, I would not advocate going any tighter.
