Distributor drive blanking plate

Post by parrish »

I am currently fitting a Programmable Engine Management system with Fuel injection to my Strada Abarth engine.
Geoff Wards article to be found elsewhere on this forum is invaluable.
I have a Guy Croft offset manifold to which i am going to first fit the Throttle bodies.
At a later date i intend to fit a more direct flow (straight) manifold.
This will require the removal of the distributor.
I am unsure as to what sort of blanking plate to fit to the distributor drive hole.
Am i right in thinking that i need something that will protrude down the hole?
Is their another drive down the hole that needs to be retained.
Are their any blanking plates available.

I think you are referring to an application with a former block mounted distributor. If so you need a plug with sufficient length to retain the drive gear on the oil pump. These are available as OE Fiat items. If you need a plug for a cam box mounted distributor, you will have to have one made, or change to a cam box without provisions for a distributor.

In any case I have both available if you are interested, please email or private message for details.
