Guy,
A friend is staritng a build on a Fiat 2000TC 8 valve destined for his 124 Coupe. He wants to build a powerful
naturally aspirated street engine, about 160-165 bhp.
The engine will have 9.8:1 compression, ported head, 43mm intake and 37.5mm exhaust valves, programmable
fuel injection with 40mm IDF-style throttle bodies (and a few other things).
The question regards cam selection. Here in the US the most available cams are the old Pittatore grinds, the
40/80,80/40 and the 42/82,82/42. We were going to use the latter, but then though there might be a GC cam
that would work better? In your book you recommend a cam with 290-300º duration and medium lift integral.
Would the GC IIB work well for this application? Are these available? What is cost (you can email me if you like)?
Thanks,
Csaba

Hullo Csaba
I would just go with your existing grinds for that spec. In saying that I assume the cams will be be billet not regrind.
I don't imagine you'll get much difference with the GCIIB really. You could move up to a GC stIII cam, but with the setup you describe it should get to the bhp target readily enough, given that 40 throttle body (even a downdraft one) is equiv to about a 45 carb.

Re: Fiat 2000 TC fast-road cam selection?
Guy,
Thank you for the info! Yes, the cams are new billet, not regrinds.
Thank you for confirming the info on the 40mm throttle bodies too.
We are very excited about this engine, we'll post results once it's done!
