Street racing under Police control brings illegal racing under control, very, very forward-thinking of the Lodz Police.

We have been doing A similar thing in Auckland, New Zealand for a number of years (although not run by police). An event called Night Speed Drag Wars is run every second friday night during the summer at the dragstrip closest to Auckland. Anyone can bring a road legal car and run in a number of different classes, there are also classes run for all out race cars at the same meeting. And at the end of the evening there is a burnout contest for those who just want to shred some tyres.

It is a great Idea, the only trouble is the worst offenders aren't particularly interested because, A) they dont want to pay (even though entry is only about $25NZD/10 pounds), and B) They want to be doing things illegally because they "hate the police" etc. and C) the local media only tend to pick up on the crashes etc. caused by these morons and quickly forget about the couple of hundred racers and several thousand spectators attending legal racing meetings.

I can only hope it works better in Poland
