Hi

Today, Ive found something interresting at my local electronic store..
This is a subwoofer casing trumpet:

And I was wondering if these trumpets can be use as inlet stacks!
Here the mesurements:

Image
Internal diameter of the small end (1.7885in=45.42mm sry about the mesurements in inch old habits!)

Image
Internal diameter of the big end (1.9595in=49.77mm)

Image
Total Lenght 130mm

The internal angle of the conicity is 1deg 91' 41''

Image
Weight (1.8oz = 50g i think)

It will need modification of the internal finish I think because this one is too polish:

I will do heat tests on this one just to be sure that the material will resist to any conditions...

At about 0.89$can(very cheap) it can be a good bang for the buck if this work! These are easily modifiable,lightweight...What do you think about it?

Thanks
Hugo

the other thing is how it holds up to oil and fuel may be of concern.

48mm i/d will mean very low gas speed for most applications. I've had no end of rouble with 45mm ones!

Links:

From Protocols & Rules in GC V/W:

Don't write posts that contain links and lots of 'abbreviations'
They are likely to get deleted without notice. Links may only be used with permission from me, and then when no other method of conveying the information is possible.

The reason for forbidding links is that mostly that method is used to display an item that the member has not actually used himself. The thing may have practical value, it may not. But until someone tries it out no-one knows, except that the seller will rarely say the thing doesn't work... Far better to buy the thing, try it and report results here and I should far rather members do that.

In this case I will simply say that I should like to see a before-and-after test with this device on the engine in order that some conclusion as to its merit can be made.

Ah, OK. I have used the trumpets from JNTperfomance and have found them to be well made and they are very open to making 'specials'.
