A bit back to front but I will post up some of the build. Here are a few of her as she stands.

I will try and do something about the photo sizes tomorrow. If I'm not to busy building my gearbox.

Photos are probably simply too big. Gimp (or just about any photo editing application) should be able to rescale them.
Looks a very tidy car -- my favourite wheels, too!

Re: Liam's Uno turbo Mk1/2 Hill Climb/Road Car
Thanks fingers, It's a very clean example of an Uno. The shell has only covered 30,000 miles and most things have been replaced or renewed during build. All major suspension components have been powder coated too. I love the wheels as well but a little heavy for my liking.

Re: Liam's Uno turbo Mk1/2 Hill Climb/Road CarNEWPICS
Engine has been completely rebuilt to standard spec with Mahle +.5 pistons new turbo and Black Diamond kevlar fast road clutch. Boost has been up'd to 1bar from 0.8 by way of a bleed valve. Single box exhaust system and a CDA carbon air box with cold feed from the front bumper.
I'm fitting a Quaife LSD at the moment so will be able to use the power I'v already got a bit better. I would like to get some more reliable BHP but not sure of the best way to go about it. It was dynoed at 135bhp before the rebuild so unsure what it is now.

Re: Liam's Uno turbo Mk1/2 Hill Climb/Road CarNEWPICS
I've no practical experience with them, but folk say they'll produce 180-200bhp without any real issues.
There was a Greek 1.6 one putting out close to 400bhp (in a Cinquecento!), but that was a drag car -- on the road (there are videos on You Tube) it looked like a frantic mix of wheelspin and torque steer. I suspect it was on the torque limits of the gearbox without -- at least -- a stiffening plate.

I have also heard that they can manage 180bhp with standard rods etc. I think 180 would be plenty. I prefer going down the route of lightening it to increase bhp per Ton, this way the engine is under less strain and for hill climb it will be more poised.
Is the Greek car a Uno Turbo head and management mated to a 1.6 block?

Uno Turbo Hillclimb car
This is where it started.
2001 - I came across my Fiat Uno Turbo ie at a cost of £350. I wasn't looking for a car but when I saw it I just had to have it. It was an antiskid model which didn't really mean anything as the brakes where marginal to say the least. It had been badly repaired and the shell was rotten. Example: Newspaper(used to bulk out voids) underneath filler on repairs around the sunroof! Ideally, it needed to be re shelled but it stayed on the road as it was until I had the money to do this. 2003 - The time had come to re shell the car as it wasn't going to get through its next MOT. I was also concerned about the strength of the roof due to the poor repair work carried out by one of the previous owners. I managed to find a pretty decent donor car for £50 near by. It was a Grey E reg Mk1 Uno 45 which was in fair condition with a few minor scrapes and bumps but no real rot.
The pictures shown are of the car 6 years after (2009) I did the build. To be totally honest I didn't really have the money, maturity or the know how to do the job properly back then. In 2004 it was a case of just swapping everything over and changing what was broken with no real attention to detail.
2006 to 2007 I lived and worked in Vienna. Just before I moved to Vienna I bought an Audi s2 and the Fiat went into storage.
2007 - I came back from Vienna to set up my own business at home in Wales. Part of this process meant I needed to sell the Audi in order to buy a pick up (sadly).
2011 - My thoughts turned to my old Uno. I decided I would get it out of storage and have a look at what needed to be done to get it back on the road. This time with the intention of doing it properly.
Having had a good think about it, the Grey shell was not in a good enough condition to make what I wanted without a lot of body work, so, I set about finding another donor shell that was in near perfect condition.
This is what I found. G reg Uno 45 with 27,000 on the clock and garaged all its life. It still needed three small bits of welding!
Here are the three bits.
That's it for now.

Re: Liam's Uno turbo Mk1/2 Hill Climb/Road CarNEWPICS
I'm not 100% sure -- I'd always thought that the Punto GT had a 1600 version of the Uno Turbo motor, but I could be very wrong there. To find the videos search on You Tube for Hatzis (sometimes transliterated as Xatzis) & Turbo. I'd suspect forged internals.Slim wrote: Is the Greek car a Uno Turbo head and management mated to a 1.6 block?

There was no 1600 version of the Punto GT only 1372.
I'll have a look at the vid's.

Hey lad's and lasses
Its been a while! So...here are a few photos of the strip-down of both my Grey and newly acquired Red donor car.
Sorry about the lack of text, not really much to comment on when stripping down. Everyone loves a photo though hey!.

Re: Uno Turbo Hillclimb car
I have now been hillclimbing the Uno for the past three years. Not at a serious level but just for a bit of fun. This year I have competed 5 times, I've come 1st in class 3 times (on hills I had raced before), setting one class/hill record by 2.5sec and 4 hundredths off breaking another, 4th in class once (first time on the hill) and lost 5th gear at Llandow Sprint due to a loose bolt in the gearbox.
I have made quite a few modifications along the way and always seem to be changing one thing or another with sometimes less than 24 hours before an event! Not sure I ever manage to get to know the car and then I'm off trying to improve it. Maybe this will always be the case, at least until I think it's as good as it can be and then I'll be onto the next.
I have posted elsewhere regarding my winter engine build but thought I best wake this thread back up again and try and keep it all in one place.
The engine as it is now: 1372 head and cam - 1372 management and 1372 crank in a 1301 block - fresh build 4000 or so miles ago - Punto GT Stage one hybrid turbo from Turbo Technics (only fitted this turbo as I had it available, it is incredibly laggy) - Big front mount intercooler - Good cold air feed.
The engine has very good on boost power but lacks it off boost. I know it's only a little engine but I'm sure it could be better with mappable management and good cam.
My plan is this: Punto GT3 Management - CB 270T cam - Ported PGT3 head with race valve angles - PGT3 pistons and crank - turbo (unknown).
The GT3 has a relatively high CR of 9.3:1 (i believe, please correct me if I'm wrong) which will help with the off boost torque that I'm looking for. I will have a turbo built that gives good mid-range power with minimal lag. I'm aiming for 200 hp and 200 lbf ft of torque.
Here are a couple of photos of me competing this year.
