BSFC - typical/expected values for Fiat SOHC/DOHC

Post by NickRP »

I would be interested to know typical BSFC values, at max. power output, for Fiat/Lancia SOHC (128 derivatives) and DOHC (124/132 derivatives) engines. What can be expected in the case of N/A and turbo charged:

a) stock engine (assuming some mid range representative)
b) moderately modified road engine
c) ultimate race engine

The reason I ask is that I need some reference for making injector sizing decisions. I always tend to propose minimum injector size, still sufficent to do the job with certain margin of reserve (say 15%).

Thanks,
Nikola

Nick, some BSFC data that I have from Superflow dyno tests, rpm vs gm/kWhr. Fuel flow by gravimetric meter.

(atmos corrected torque/bhp outputs)

StII 'road' 2 liter Fiat 8v 42/36mm valves on twin 45 DCOE
3000 420
3500 395
4000 352
4500 430
5000 395
5500 380 (max torque, 148 lbf ft)
6000 395
6500 395
7000 345 (max power, 172 bhp)

StIII 2 liter 'rally' Fiat 8v 43.5/36 valves on twin 45 DCOE
4000 369
4500 358
5000 343
5500 316 (max torque 148lbf ft)
6000 320
6500 320
7000 309 (max power 182bhp)
7500 326

StIII liter 'race' Fiat 8v 46/40 valves on twin 45 DCOE
4500 367
5000 351
5500 305 (max torque 152.4lbf ft)
6000 302
6500 289
7000 297
7500 323 (max power 191bhp)

I don't have any fuel injected bsfc data because we could not meaure it with the fuel system on that dyno, the meter was bypassed. I have nothing on turbo units.
