Throttle body angle?
Guy,
im fitting a Lancia manifold to my Lancia head fitted on my 131 TC.
However the throttle bodies will end up at 12 degrees down from the horizontal!
Is this likely to cause any problems?
Regards
Steve

Re: Throttle body angle?
No big deal (Except aesthetically of course) if everything is port-matched and doesn't affect the flow orientation down to the port runners.
I've seen plenty of down tilt on BMW M engines.
But if the ITBs bolt pattern is similar to the DCOE one, why not using the OE 130TC manifold? Am I missing something here?

Nabih has it in one..!
Steve why are you using a Lancia manifold on a vertical installation?

Re: Throttle body angle?
Thanks for the advice.
The reason for using the manifold is that it was previously port matched to the head (head was worked) so i have that nice head to manifold match.
I was worried about any excess fuel running back out of the TB's, found some nice 22 degree bell mouths at 'Jenvey' which would probably help me if fuel is a problem.
Ill finish the fitting and see what its like, might have to go for another manifold if it worries me too much.
Regards

Re: Throttle body angle?
Understood - can't see it being a problem really.

Re: Throttle body angle?
Everything would work OK here, except for the funny look of the complete setup.
Port-match a nice 130TC manifold here buddy. It's a priceless advice.
Why letting the air going 22 deg down, then 12 deg up, then 45 deg down, when you can have a nice straight shot view of the valves on WOT, with a straight 130TC manifold and straight rampipes? Plus if you ever wanted to retrofit any kind of air filter or airbox, with those tilted rampipes it would be a real fuss!
Good luck on your project. Nabih

What Steve is his affair but I am kinda with Nabih on this one - you could sell the Montecarlo manifold for a fair bit. I should know - I make them (exclusively) for the Monte Hospital!

- test-fit on a Monte Hospital Lancia manifold after forming stud threads. This is made from a pattern I had made years ago and sold to them. The hammer is not used during the trial BTW!

Guy,
the one ive got is one of yours! came with the head, although i think it was worked on by an ex apprentice of yours? forget his name.
let me see how she runs with this set up if i come across a decent 130TC manifold at the right price i may be tempted.

Re: Throttle body angle?
this is the setup.
The inboard (OE Fiat) manifold has studs already fitted, they were u/s on this one for client Jon Cummins so I pulled them and replaced with capscrews.

Re: Throttle body angle?
Air flow has been dealt with extensively. However, I see you have injectors and those have to be mounted at the correct angle. What that angle is for the combination of your injectors and engine, I can't say, but if they are single stream injectors, they should probably be aiming at the base of the valve in the middle of the stem (8V engine). if you aim them differently, you could get less than optimal results with fuel mixture and vaporization. Some engines like their injectors aimed differently, so you may want to check what works best for your engine and possibly get another manifold if this one aims the injectors all wrong.

Re: Throttle body angle?
I have run the engine today, all good, will road test the car soon.
As previously mentioned the Manifold is matched to the head, with the TB's and injectors mounted i can confirm that the injectors are pointing at the back of the Valves.
Ill give you feed back from the road test as soon as i can.
