Re: My 131 abarth (never ending) story 2011 season update
the bolts are M8 on Miro's propshaft.
With a 10 grade nut I suggested 16-18lbf ft. The limit is the shear strength of the nut (female) threads.

Re: My 131 abarth (never ending) story 2011 season update
Finished fine without major problems .
Engine is a masterpiece !
Thank you GUY !
Lost a gear lever which went completely off the gearbox gearchange lever (nothing a piece of electric tape and a solid hammer could not fix .
Ran stage 2 with a flat right front 3 of 3,5 rounds. I fractured it running into a small but sharp curb.
The car behind is did not catch up ( we were going full speed on straights !)
By magic the tire is junk but the wheel is undamaged !!!
More later . Just few photos now !

Congratulations on the good race Miro. Lovely pictures indeed. Do you have more?
So now I'm curious, how was your time? How was it compared to "the others"?

Re: My 131 abarth (never ending) story 2011 season update
Gents,
I still need to do a lot to put out some business fires (two weeks of preparations away from business affairs is taking its toll). Here are some more pictures. Full report later , Re: time : my time .
Not all detail are published yet and there is some dispute with the organizers of the rally , as the Legend class in which we were running times were not published at all.
However based on official, published results and the time taken from my on board the loss we had to Bryain Bouffier ( who won the rally) was 08:06. Still cannot believe it , but numbers are accurate and have been verified two dozen times.
Cannot be unhappy , especially since we lost a lot of time ( several minutes !!!) due to a flat on Stage 2.
Quick picture update attached .
Miro
PS : on board of all the stages coming soon ...

Re: My 131 abarth (never ending) story 2011 season update
With the flat tire, that's a respectable time. you would probably be a over a minute faster than that, if the tire would have held?
Was there a lot of attention for your car from the public and other drivers? The press? It looks spectacular and this model being the logo for the race would have helped?

Re: My 131 abarth (never ending) story 2011 season update
In fact all that have a sense of Rally history were very interested and the car drew a lot of attention from the public. Remember however this model rallied in Poland only once - in 39 Poland Rally when it took first place (Antonio Zanini / Juan Petisco) and third place (Salvador Cañellas / Jordi Sabater). Despite the fact that great number of rally fans in Poland are young and cannot remember the 80's they know about this car and really like it.
Here is the list of all "Legends" some of which ( with all due respect ) are just old cars not legends.
Here is a list of all entries in Legend class.
I have marked red the cars which I know of no rally history, blue Polish rallies cars, green which had real achievements, pink with sports history. Sorry to sound chauvinistic but there was only one true legend ...
Mazda 323 GTR
Mini Morris - if this were a Cooper
Fiat 125p
VW Golf (II)
Polonez 2000
Alfa Romeo GTV 2000
Toyota Celica if this were Turbo 4WD
SAAB 96 V4
Renault 11
Mazda 323 GLX
Skoda 100S
Fiat 125p
Polonez FSO
Porsche 924
Opel Astra GSI
BMW 318is
Fiat 125p
BMW M3
Opel Kadett
Opel Manta
Fiat Abarth 131 Rally
Fiat 125p
Ford Escort - if this were RS 1800 ( correction It is an MkII RS 1800)
Polski Fiat 125p
Mercedes Benz 190 E
Alfa Romeo GTV 2000
Skoda Felicia
Peugeot 205 - if this were turbo 16
FSO Polonez
Fiat 126p
There are very few national rally worthy rally legends in Poland ( except for Polski Fiat 125 p ( Acropolis and Monte Carlo model replicas) , Polonez and 126 p . I am quite sure the total number of rally worthy true rally legends in Poland is around 5 - 6, no more.

Re: My 131 abarth (never ending) story 2011 season update
sorry to sound pedantic, but if it was a BMW M3 E30 it won the Tour de Corse in 1987, was 2 times Belgium and 2 times French National Rally Champion. The cars were prepared by Prodrive at the time, so rally history indeed...I have marked red the cars which I know of no rally history---

....
BMW M3
....
If you search youtube for MANX and SNIJERS, you can see "a breathtaking display of forceful driving".
Also I think Mazda rallied the 323GTR, but I am not sure...
BTW, I am glad you are happy now with your car, looks spectacular on the pictures!
