I want to introduce my car.
It's a Peugeot 205 gti 1.6 8v. I bought it 2 years ago. At once I began to prepare it for track-days and drag-racing competitions. So this car became my hobby.
Last year I prepared the engine for competition use: modified the head and installed bike carbs from kawasaki ninja zx9r.
It allowed me to get the following results:
0-100 km/h - 6.3 sec
402 m - 14.6 sec
And we take third place in drag-racing competition in Belarus.
This year we decided to completely rebuild this car. About half a year we restored the body.
And now I am trying to modify the head to get more power. I`ve bought a Catcams 4900366 camshaft (282 degrees duration, 12 mm maximum lift, timing [1.0mm+cl(cl=0.3 for intake and exhaust valves)] is 14/54° 54/14°). Catcams adjustable cam pulley, dbilas dynamics race valve-springs and retainers. I modified the intake and exhaust ports, polished combustion chamber. And now I want to install new seats and valve guides.
So I have some questions about that.
I want to cut the seats into 3 angles and I have read your posts to DamirGTI, you said that angles on intake ports must be: 45 deg x 1.75-2mm contact face, 75 deg throat, 20 deg top grind. Is this modification good for my configuration?
And what about exhaust seats?
Can you give me some advice about what back cut on valves should I do?
To install a catcams camshaft I want to enlarge compression ratio to 11,5 (for 95 RON petrol) by cutting the head. I know that this way is not good but I don’t have forged pistons for this CR. So I have a question: what value should be for ‘safe’ clearance between piston and valves? Maximum engine speed is 7000-7500 rpm.
Help me, please. This is my first experience to install and adjust performance camshaft. And I don`t want to make mistakes.
