Also of interest on the third photo down is the big end thats discoloured due to overheating.
Its quite blued.

A little update:

I am a happy owner of a nice condition crank shaft from Fiat 1.9TD.
There is a slight difference in the shape of the middle and the first one counterweights.
I will polish the journals after oil mod.

The stock conrods showed ovality of the big end in vertical plane + 0.04mm
They will be changed with Eagle H-beam CRS5700P3D.
The only mod they need is machining of the small end to accept Fiat pin bush.
The conrod bearings will be from Chevy SB small journal 2.000", Clevite 77 TriArmor™ CB745HNK STD.
They are tri metal + top coating of PTFE+MoS2 and graphite.

I'm interested in how the eagle SBC rods fit - I looked at some scat rods once before but found they were too wide across the rod bolts at the big end to fit down the Fiat bore (something like 87-88mm wide).

CRS5700P3D are with 3/8 bolts, instead of the bigger 7/16's on Chevy's
The total width of the big end is 3.188", will confirm this when buy them.
Actually this rods are for Ford 2000cc Pinto and Mustang 2300 .

I don't want to spoil the party but I am going to publish something I rarely do about a product.

EAGLE RODS

I know about the origin of this make of 'rod' and it is a type not worthy of mention on my site and I do not want their name mentioned again on this website.

I am temporarily locking this thread to highlight this. This is no reflection on any member - you cannot be expected to know the things I know.

Hi to everyone :)

I want to show some initial dyno runs of my Tipo Integrale.
There was some big issues at the dyno with the correct behavior of the ECU boost control.
At the road I managed to hold 1.5 - 1.4 bar, but at the dyno it was a big overboost 1.65 bar at the middle revs and a big tapering till the top end 1.2 bar
May be the ECU boost control can not work correct with the external Turbosmart 38mm wastegate?
For the tune I am using TunerPro, at the stock Lancia with T3 internal wastegate there is no such an issues holding the desired boost.
To make the steady 1.5 bar I will install the appropriate spring from the wastegate kit and it will be without electronic control.

Something interesting happens when the 250 kPa MAP was maxed out, the ECU probably goes with the safe mode ignition advance better than the advance in the main table, thus the immediate raise of the torque and power.
The AFR readout is 0.5 higher than the real, some specifics of the dyno software.
The dyno is Dynocom rolling road, measured at the wheels, no correction.

some drag times recorded with RaceChrono and 5Hz Qstarz GPS
60 feet 2.13 s
1/4 mile 12.33 s at 186 km/h 116 mph
0-60 mph 4.10 s
0-100 km/h 4.28 s

After that the results was confirmed with DriftBox, the same terminal speed, but 1/4 time little bit worsе, 12.6 s due to poor traction and a big wheel spin at 1-st gear
The 0-200 km/h time was 15.4 s

12.3s 1/4 mile is pretty respectable for that car and setup!

Well done!

Hello,

I have a question regarding the use of a Tipo 1.9 TD crankshaft in teh F/L engine block! Is this a tried & tested conversion? Does the crank fit witouth modification? Is it strong enough? Does it have to be reground? Which conrods (from which car, not which maker) and bearings must be used? I have never seen sutch a conversion!

Also a word of advice. When rebuilding an engine specially arter a bearing issue you should ALLWAYS (at least in my oppinion) dissassemble the oil pickup. I have removed the mesh on mine so it could be cleaned from the inside.

Pickup - agreed - as I said in my new book though it means cutting it open!

As for crank/rod swap I don't do that. The OE crank is way strong and you should be on good quality race rods.

Hi Guy,
The engine performs mainly like that thanks to your knowledge shown here, the engine preps, cams theory and head porting especially :)

Actually the car could make a better 1/4 mile time if the traction is enough at 1st gear, now with street semi slicks and normal tarmac it can't be floored at 1st, otherwise excessive wheel spin occurs.

Hi samo, your Lancia project is very impressive :)
About the crankshafts, the picture of the two cranks showed above is a little my mistake, the other crank is not a 1.9TD - it is from 1.8 TC Fiat, I realized after posting the picture.
The 1.9TD and 2.0 TC cranks are actually one same things, no difference at all.

The oil pick up was opened, cleaned and tacked again.

a real time given at the drag strip-no glue, a lot of wheel spin
The time : (at the right lane)
1.9 sec 60 feet, 12.247 sec 1/4mile, 186 km/h ET
A real chance for round 12, or even high 11s :)
The change becomes from the mapping at higher steady boost 1.5 bar with little 1.6 peak boost.

And a nice moment from an Italian track day
some heavy body roll, no suitable sway bars at the moment

Hi to everybody

A few upgrades being done while ago :)
Big brake convertion and a big turbo.

The brakes : AP racing front 4 pot calipers from Monaro VXR8 completed with Carbone Lorraine RC6E pads currently, RC8 waiting.
The discs are Brembo 330mm from Alfa Romeo GTA
The rear discs are the original front one with the Brembo max 284mm discs, usual stock brake pads.
Stopping is exellent without any effort.

The power upgrade:
Garrett GT3582R 1.06A/R turbine, a bit bigger, if some smaller housing like 0.82 or even 0.63 appear in the future will be good.
But even that, the responce above 4500 rpm is super, the power goes non falling up to the rev limit 7500 rpm
The injectors are 684cc Mototron Deka.
Power at 1.5 bar 400 AWHP :), at the engine 475HP, 500Nm

Here is a track onboard at 1.3 bar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rk_RvsJh6lg
