BMW M62 Engine DIY drysump on a offroad trophy rig

Hi,

In order to have at least one meaningful post here I thought I share some pics of our teams trophy rig engine dry sump setup. We did not plan to use the dry sump initially but since everything got really crowded with the build then this is what resulted. Since we need two generators and additional location for the steering pump we had to mount the oil pump straight to the crank. Not really an elegant solution but will get the job done. We have been running this setup now for more than 4 years quite well. Pics here are meant as inspiration :)

The full car build thread with pictures can be found here: http://forum.4x4.ee/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=11772 Use google translator in order to get the idea

As you can see on the picture we had to reverse a lot on the engine. Intake has moved to the back.

Very interesting indeed! I was at the Go Motorsport Live show last Sunday and there was a BMW powered offroader there too. I imagine for the adventurous builder there are some very reasonably priced but sophisticated engine options these days given the monumental depreciation of suitably big engined prestige cars.
