Flywheel bushes - sizes.

Hi Guy!

During my current engine build I discovered some differences between flywheels from the 131 and 130TC Abarth:

Here is a std 130 TC flywheel with a bush in the centre.

Here is the 131 flywheel I am planning to use - the bush is too small to fit into the central hole...
I never thought of measuring this as I thought it would be "plug and play" - not so.

Is there any "system to it" - regarding differences between the flywheels in the Fiat Lancia family?

Best regards

Re: Flywheel bushes RWD vs FWD applications

Maybe I am mistaken, but I remember something about the transverse (Beta FWD and Montecarlo / Scorpion) twin cam installations using a solid metal bushing while the RWD installations require a ball bearing. A ball bearing would work in the transverse applications but is not a requirement? It never really made sense to me, maybe Guy could clear this up.

It may be that the input shaft on the FWD transaxle applications does not actually go into the bushing / bearing as it is short. The bushing is only used to center the flywheel?
