Re: BMW Series E46 330i Cylinder Head Porting

Did you check what heat does to the epoxy? I would recommend to check how it behaves by putting a probe into an oven at, say, 100°C, or what you expect at the points of application. Probably its more than 100°C around the valve guides. It would be a pity if some epoxy parts fall off and endanger all...

Re: My 131 abarth (never ending) story 2011 season update

I have marked red the cars which I know of no rally history--- . Sorry to sound chauvinistic but there was only one true legend ... .... BMW M3 .... sorry to sound pedantic, but if it was a BMW M3 E30 it won the Tour de Corse in 1987, was 2 times Belgium and 2 times French National Rally Champion. ...

Re: Guy Croft Lada Riva Twin Cam replica

I wonder why Lotus let the battery mounted that far front in the engine compartment instread of placing it in the trunk? Sure it will eat luggage space, but in terms of weigth distribution it should be an obvious thing to do. Thomas PS: regarding the 131 gearbox mounting: when I exchanged the my 124...

Re: Oil pressure priming -Lancia Montecarlo-

The Montecarlo would be ideal for an accusump, as there is quite some space on the driver side of the engine compartment, unlike most front engined cars. (Or behind the copilot rearwall, mounted from underneath) I have one in my 124 Spider and (once intalled) its a really nice thing to have, no more...

Re: Historic Forest Stage Rally 124 Spider

Re rubber bushes- in front suspension- thanks for the comments by TR-spider. I do understand the situation, and would be interested to know what you used the car for and what tyre/wheel combination you were using. Most of the experience I had was on 13" rims with 185 road tires and fast-road-d...

Re: Historic Forest Stage Rally 124 Spider

Nice! Up to now that looks great. The only thing I would reconsider is the use of rubber bushes in the front suspension. I lost count on how many times I replaced the new rubber ones with newer rubber ones... also the ability of holding a geomtry setting is poor from my experience. I measured signif...

Re: Plenum Options for a Montecarlo installation

Hi Darren this was not my intention, but...actually I do not need the Beta plenum anymore, so if you are interessted, send me a PM. I bought it years ago and never used it. It is as dirty as I received it, all injectors are installed, the connectors with cut-off cables are on see pics. Regards Thoma...

Re: Plenum Options for a Montecarlo installation

Hi,

have you checked the Beta ie (with the Bosch L-Jetronic) intake plenum?
AFAIK that should fit directly.
Check the web for pictures of Montes with it installed.
If you need any detail pics or measurements, I have one lying in the garage (somewhere...)

Regards
Thomas

Re: Fiat Strada 130TC Rally prep.

I am also amazed by these regulations, which are the same for the "Youngtimer" '76-'90 class. On the other hand, when watching these cars at races I always see the catalysts glow orange, which means they are pretty much at working temperature. Normally one does not much "cold starting...

Re: Fiat Strada 130TC Rally prep.

Hi Daniel

very nice car you build there!
I like your attention to details on all the chassis stiffening & bracing and parts manufacturing.

Why did you choose the electric driven servo pump for the steering?

Re: My 131 abarth (never ending) story 2011 season update

while we're on fans and switches I would like to mention briefly the phenomenon (?) called 'heat soak' - where the engine temperature climbs even though the engine is switched off. Most 'modern' cars with electric fans have this and it is something worth building into the installation. It can take ...

Re: My 131 abarth (never ending) story 2011 season update

Guy, I absolutely agree, thats why I gave the above advice. My main point was to show Miro the fact that the airshield underneath the engine should not close it off, as indicated on his scetch. The mayority of the air going through the cooler needs to exit towards the underneath of the car. (unless ...

Re: My 131 abarth (never ending) story 2011 season update

Hello Miro there are some mistakes in your understanding, especially about the flow underneath the car. First some basics: high flow velocity= low pressure and vice versa. Flow, i.e. mass transport between 2 areas will always go in the direction of lower pressure. Example: driving with a closed car,...

Re: 124 or 125(132/Argenta) hubs for Rally Spider

Some photos of spacers to go between springs and chassis. I used the original 124 rubber-sheetmetal springseats and embedded them in aluminium rings. A flat rubber ring (not shown) goes between spacer and chassis. I hope the photos are self-explaining. It sure was some manufacturing effort, but its ...
